Hello 2010. NWSD wishes you many successes and happiness for this memorable year.

We have been waiting for this year to hit us with a bang, and so it has. We are looking forward to a great year.

Fashion succès

 

  • NWSD boasts with 4 finalists for the South African Fashion Designers Association, Vukani Awards.  Nationally, 15 finalists were selected from 350 entries.  Congratulations to

-               Yolande Maree, 2nd year student

-               Nadine Roodt,2nd year student

-               Joani Pieterse,2nd year student

-               FX Prins, Graduate, Designer of the year 2008.

 

  • As reported by the Klerksdorp Record, the Miss world pageant chose South Africa's top ten designers to create evening gowns for the miss world Pageant contestants, amongst them were JJ Schoeman, Malcum Kluk, Marc & Michael & Gert-Johan Coetzee (Diamond Face Couture) 

Gert-Johan (North West School of Design graduate and NWSD Designer of the year 2005) designed dresses for 15 contestants including - our own Miss South-Africa , Miss Italy, Miss France, Miss Finland, Miss England, Miss Scotland, Miss Germany and miss Guatemala.. Etc.  The theme was "City Of Gold" and the dresses were firstly showcased in Abu Dabi,and secondly in South Africa at the Miss World top model contest.

 

  • Neelufer Patel, a NWSD 2007 graduate, has successfully completed the Edgars Graduate Programme, whereby she was trained on the Edcon systems as buyer. Neelufer was one of 7 graduates who were selected from 800 applications and she has now been appointed as specialist buyer for men's accessories. Congratulations Neelufer!

 

Nouveau news!

 

  • Looking forward to meeting all our new full time fashion students.  The 2nd year fashion students start on Wednesday 13 January, and the 1st years will start on Wednesday,  27 January.
  • We are currently compiling our yearly courses, and we will be forwarding this to you once we have set dates for all our courses and workshops. Courses to watch out for:  Fashion Design, Photography, Interior Décor, Lingerie making, Teen and Junior sewing classes, Tailoring, Pattern Designing, Flower Arranging, Hostess Workshop, Basic Upholstery, Basic Landscaping, Advanced Sewing, Window Dressing, and many more..
  • We have loads of fashion, craft and art events being planned  for 2010 that we are currently confirming,, but you will have to wait for the end of January to diarize these electrifying events.  These include the annual advertising fashion shows (Potch, Klerksdorp, Vereeniging),a HIV AIDS Awareness Fashion show(creative garments made from new condoms), NW Style Awards, and many more.
